I know with SA its what is asked for but what annoys me is that after joining the Agency, how when I go on an assignment, people have not joined or signed a contract and paid to have photo’s done and yet they get constant work and I have done this thinking I would not get work. Not only is it unfair, but puts me in a position where I feel if I complain, I will be putting myself in a bad position which is why I have not. I have read your book which is great and I noticed that I have already do the some of things you talk about naturally. Thank you for that xx I am not yet an Actor and have only gained the B-Tec National with 16 Distinctions, 8 Merits and one pass. I have not been in a position to take up the work until now some time after my B-tec. I joined a local theatre and was totally ingnored as they are a ‘click’ even after reading for every play, working as a lighting tech, painting sceans etc. I gave it my best and currently looking for another theatre to join. (Brush myself off and start again)! I live outside of London but was about to join an Agency there as well as where I live, but at this time, its the cost. The reason for this is how to get work on other projects like Downtown Abby etc. I know I have probably answered my own questions but it is good to talk. With kindest regardsThe old fossil
Dear Old Fossil. It is as you know and have experienced a tough old game. The free market, smaller budgets etc opens the industry to non-card holders. This brings with it many good and bad things, one of the bad things you have listed. One of the good things is that certain great projects would never have been made if people had to work within the equity guide lines. Another point I would like to make is that you should not wait to be told your an actor, – a card, training, showreel, merits etc should not define you as an actor…..you become an actor when you have respect for the craft, others and the fact its a tough industry. As for approaching Downtown Abbey etc, your agent or you could send your info to the casting director or you could send it directly to the production office. Either way it should get reviewed. Keep on thriving dear Old Fossil.

I am going out for dinner tiognht. Where I’m going to, I can take the train back and forth and the total roundtrip fare would be $2.40, $1.20 each way. I can also drive. Total trip would be 7 miles, 3.5 each way, and usually takes about 13 minutes driving time each way with no traffic due to lights, stop signs, etc. Which is the cheaper option given gas prices now?

Nothing will ever be best for these children being parented by such phony, unbelievably stupid characters. I do not know why they were ever given custody of any of the children. They are all living in La-La land. At least Brad is behind wonderful humanitarian rebuilding and helping those in New Orleans, etc. Jen would be better off staying at home and not wasting her time with the idiots she has been dating. (The Gambler comes to mind instantly.) I ESPECIALLY hate when the camera never shows the jobber suffering post-match; you wait for the final scene of the defeated jobber for some closure, but after some close-up of the main eventer, you find the jobber is mysteriously gone!

My 10 month old son Clark has is the proud owner of a much rarer name than we realized. I think it’s #812 on 2003′s Social Security list. I’m very glad that it’s familiar enough that spelling and such is not an issue.We named him after my husband’s grandfather, but also I just loved the name. Who would have thought Superman’s name would be so rare? I think it’s just gone out of fashion over the years – perhaps a bit like Trixie.

Whoa, things just got a whole lot easier.
My son John (eight months and change) now has eight teeth. The first six gave him no trouble – he just drooled and grew teeth. The last two, though, came in over the 4th of July weekend and it was hell for him. Nothing helped – though having two pacifiers and swapping them between his mouth and a glass of ice water eased things a little bit. Anyone have any insight on why these two were so bad after such relatively pain-free teething?

Good review Dan, I had the same problems with the Nouveau driver, it took me 3 hours to get my NVIDIA 6800GT working. Nano was installed from the DVD, however the one item that I found a bit odd was the lack of the menu editor, I had to search for it with the package manager. So far I have found Fedora 12 a bit more stable than 11 for my machine, for the last few months FC11 was so unstable on my machine that I rolled back to FC10 (my favourite FC so far). Keep up the good work on the blog and the thoroughly excellent Linux Outlaws podcast, truly a great show.
I love Linux Mint! I was first introduced to Ubuntu and I just did not like it… I found Mint and it’s so easy to use, but not to a point that you can not change anything. I love mint, and I love that I am finally able to school my boyfriend with my Mint OS.

Liebe Bäckerinnen und Bäcker – ich habe heute mein Speedport w502v zerlegt und im Backofen 5 Minuten “Dampf unter den Hintern” gemacht. BINGO: Speedport hat seine Arbeit wieder aufgenommen. Vorher ging nichts mehr, trotz Werkseinstellungen / Reset / Neustart und alle anderen bekannten Tricks… Nicht einmal das Telefon funktionierte mehr. Dank “Backtechnik” alles wieder im Lot!!!
Ausloggen würde nichtmal reichen! Welchen Browser, welches Betriebssystem, Herkunft, Ip Adresse etc sollten doch übermittelbar sein (bei den meisten) wenn man externes Script nutzt und die es entsprechend gestalten. Lädt man die Grafiken z.b vom eigenen Server und setzt nur ein Link sollten die keine Möglichkeit haben Statistiken zu erhalten Das mit jQuery etc einbinden via google kannte ich noch gar nicht! Danke für den Tipp, aber was das genau mit dem Facebook z.b zu tun hat musst du mir genauer erklären P.s: Was ist wenn man Scripte per NoScript blockt, hat man doch nur noch ne halb funktionierende Seite mit Google Api
I like the way you think. If we could break down privacy into it’s components in the same way we have say the GPL license, then a company could just maybe have a checklist like table with a tick mark for those aspects that apply.Of course this will remove the ability of a company to quietly slip in a few disclaimers (which lets face it, most want to do) without informing their user base so I can’t really see it coming into force. It’s no coincidence that both the creative commons and the GPL were not developed by corporations!
I feel the similarly and in the same breath, I feel like a traitor to all the people I love in my real life, like wanting something different is saying I don’t want them and that’s not the case. I wish I could be two people at once. A young me to live life to the fullest and not care about tomorrow and a me to live and love the pretty great life I have.

I’ve been reading them since your first publication of 1632; but I finally convinced my historian husband that he really would enjoy your take. Unfortunately, he prefers to listen in the car on the way to work, home, the store… So, I’ve gotten everything except the anthologies, and Gazettes for him. But he’s running through them so quickly!!! Is there a schedule for making the audiobooks, if any more are being made at all?

The publisher told him, basically, that it wasn’t well-written or coherent enough to sell as fiction, but it was marketable as a memoir.So he’s not a compulsive liar so much as a failed novelist. By way of example, the brand name of the auto will have a tremendous bearing on the fee. A reliable ancient family car will have a more economical premium over a flashy racecar.

First, I love this post. Second, get out of my head. Sometimes I think I’ll never be as happy and excited as I was during college and at the beginning of my career. I wish I could say, “but…”But there is no but. Contentment and happiness are not the same thing, but at this age either beats the alternatives.
I believe that there are a couple reasons rent has risen so drastically in the past few years. The first is that most major cities have made attempts to cut down on crime through gentrification. They clean up the not-so-safe areas and build a Starbucks and suddenly people want to live there again. The second is that the housing market has gone insane and property values have skyrocketed. Therefore many people who wanted to purchase a home can not afford to, so they are forced to rent. The landlords know this, and coupled with gentrification and their own increased property values, they raise the price of rent.
OK so you do moderate some rude comments. Then I’m surprised at how a few of these comments have made it through.Having a zero tolerance on swearing when it’s used in an attacking way, eg. “Bullshit Product” or there was a “Fuck Dumbass” further up doesn’t exclude anybody – it just makes people engage their brains properly. Also, some messages just don’t make any sense! You say yourself, very diplomatically, that comments have ‘lost you’. If someone can’t type a sentence that makes sense then I don’t really understand why you feel they deserve a voice – it just clutters the discussion.
I hate my life but at least this makes it bearable.
